Commercial HVAC Technician

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to support the maintenance and repair of HVAC and building equipment at a commercial facility. This position is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience working on commercial rooftop units (RTUs) and general HVAC systems.
Candidates do not need to be experts in every area. We are open to individuals who are either strong on the HVAC/mechanical side with some electrical experience or strong on the electrical side with hands-on HVAC experience .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment.
- Service and maintain commercial rooftop units (RTUs) .
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical HVAC issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and related building equipment.
- Inspect equipment and identify potential problems or needed repairs.
- Replace or repair common HVAC components such as motors, belts, filters, contactors, relays, sensors, and thermostats.
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical components associated with HVAC equipment.
- Respond to HVAC service requests and equipment issues.
- Complete basic documentation and work orders for maintenance and repairs.
- Work with other maintenance team members and outside vendors as needed.
- Follow established safety procedures while performing maintenance and repair work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous hands-on experience working with commercial HVAC systems .
- Experience servicing or maintaining commercial rooftop units (RTUs) .
- General understanding of HVAC mechanical and electrical components.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic HVAC equipment issues.
- Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a facilities maintenance team.
Preferred Experience
Candidates may come from either of the following backgrounds:
- HVAC-focused technician with some experience troubleshooting electrical components and controls.
OR
- Electrical-focused technician with hands-on experience servicing and troubleshooting commercial HVAC equipment.
