Role Description The Civil Engineer in Training role is a full‑time, on‑site position located in Columbus, TX. This role involves assisting with civil engineering design tasks for infrastructure and site development projects under the supervision of licensed engineers. Daily responsibilities include preparing drawings and plans, supporting stormwater management designs, performing basic calculations, and helping with project planning and permitting documentation. The Civil Engineer in Training will coordinate with project managers and other team members, participate in field visits and data collection, and ensure that designs meet applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations. The role also includes contributing to technical reports, maintaining project records, and supporting quality assurance processes. Qualifications Strong foundation in civil engineering principles, including Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design skills. Ability to support planning activities and project coordination, including Planning skills for infrastructure and site development. Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics with practical skills in Stormwater Management design and analysis. Interest in working as part of a team of Civil Engineers, with the ability to collaborate and follow direction from licensed professionals. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. Eligibility to obtain Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or already holding EIT is preferred. Proficiency with CAD software and basic design tools; experience with civil design software is a plus. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
