Grad Co-op — Computational Safety Modeling for Small Molecules

Graduate co-op position focused on developing computational models to assess safety of small molecule drug candidates. The role combines data curation, model development, and collaboration with computational scientists and toxicologists to support early-stage drug discovery.

Responsibilities

• Identify, curate, and compare internal and external data including chemical structures and assay results
• Develop and evaluate computational approaches such as machine learning and structural alerts for safety assessment
• Evaluate model performance and document limitations, uncertainty, and applicability for intended use
• Collaborate with computational scientists, chemists, and toxicologists to guide compound design decisions
• Present reproducible analyses and deliver documented model prototypes with recommendations

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in Master's, MBA, PharmD, or PhD program with first year completed
• Bachelor's degree from accredited institution; 18 years or older
• Python experience for scientific data analysis
• Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning principles
• Graduate degree in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, or related field (preferred)
• Familiarity with predictive toxicology or in vitro assay data analysis (preferred)

Compensation: $35.34 - $41.20 per hour
