Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Core Laboratory - Per Diem

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist / Technician is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. The incumbent is expected to maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and OSHA, and conduct themselves consistently with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel. Qualified candidates demonstrate superior patient care, possess outstanding communication skills, and adhere to our high standard of excellence. Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analyses in the Department of Laboratories. Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance. Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures. Proficient in computer protocols as assigned. Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols. Perform high‑complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods. Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique. Assist in implementing and validating new procedures. Actively engage in continuing education to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences and off‑site training whenever possible. Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, and other members of the hospital community. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Incumbent will be required to work every other weekend. Pass days and holidays as assigned. Qualifications Required: SL‑1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0‑2 years of demonstrated relevant experience. SL‑2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3‑5 years of demonstrated relevant experience. SL‑3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated relevant experience. Preferred: Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry. ASCP Certification. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences. Master’s Degree.
