JOB OVERVIEW • Specialty: Surgical Critical Care • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Fort Smith, AR • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Call Only • Coverage Period: ASAP – Oct 31, 2026• Shift Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 7 days/week • On-Call Shift Schedule: 24-hour on-call shifts (in-house day, beeper night)• Call Type: In-House • Call Response Time: 20 minutes • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION • Average Daily Volume: 30 patients/day • Case Mix: Trauma, Acute Care Surgery FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Support Staff: PA/NPs: 2 PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: No • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes PROCEDURES • Laparoscopic Surgery • Liver surgery • Sigmoidoscopy • Chest tube insertion • Central line insertion JOB REQUIREMENTS • Board: Board Eligible • Licenses: Licensed in AR • Certifications: ATLS • Experience: Acute care surgery experience required • Other Qualifications: Proficiency in Epic EMR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide on-call coverage for acute care surgery and trauma • Perform emergency department consultations and urgent surgeries • Manage trauma cases, including both operative and non-operative management • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for patient care • Maintain continuous coverage while permanent recruitment is ongoing
