Senior Scientist, High-Throughput Biologics Production and Discovery Platforms

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Senior Scientist to lead high-throughput biologics production platforms supporting antibody and multispecific discovery programs. The role combines hands-on laboratory expertise with operational leadership to design, optimize, and scale integrated protein expression, purification, and quality-control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, scaling, and daily operation of high-throughput protein production workflows supporting 60+ plates weekly across multiple programs
• Provide technical leadership for mammalian and cell-free expression platforms from DNA preparation through purified protein delivery
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and strategic expansion of liquid handlers, robotic workstations, and integrated analytical systems
• Partner cross-functionally with protein sciences, molecular biology, automation, data science, and discovery teams to align production with portfolio priorities
• Drive workflow optimization, process miniaturization, and automation implementation to improve throughput, reproducibility, and efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field plus 7+ years experience; or Master's with 5+ years; or Ph.D. with 2+ years
• Proven leadership of large-scale, plate-based protein production with multiple concurrent programs and tight delivery timelines
• Deep expertise in transient mammalian expression systems, particularly HEK293 and CHO cell lines
• Strong knowledge of protein purification technologies including affinity chromatography and automated purification methods
• Demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology, cloning strategies, and high-throughput DNA workflow design
• Substantial experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory automation and analytical instrumentation
