The Bureau of Reclamation?s Lahontan Basin Area Office (LBAO) manages water storage, delivery, and land-use across the Truckee and Carson Basins. LBAO administers several major water projects, including the Newlands Project, which provides water for about 57,000 acres of cropland and wetlands in the Lahontan Valley and the towns of Fernley and Fallon, in western Nevada. This position is currently funded for 70 weeks of work.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Water or Environmental Law or Policy with minimum additional experience of 10 year(s) in water law or policy

• Strong understanding of state (Nevada) and federal water policy, laws, and regulations, and an understanding of the Bureau of Reclamation?s mission and operations.
• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat

Duties:

The recipient will support the Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Reclamation by reviewing identified issues with the implementation of the 1997 Operating Criteria and Procedures of the Newlands Project (OCAP) and providing guidance for the forthcoming OCAP Revision.

• Review and provide guidance on issues associated with the 1997 OCAP   65%
• Hold interviews/meetings with LBAO and partners   10%
• Develop a technical memorandum and PowerPoint presentation to communicate results   25%

• Physical requirements: Work will be performed in a remote/home office setting
