Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit

Employment Type: Full-Time | 0.9 FTE or 72 hours per pay period

Work Schedule: 6 shifts of 12 hours, Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM), Rotating Weekends and Holidays

Sign-On Bonus: $7,500 available for eligible candidates

About Our Team

Experience the dynamic environment of our Observation Unit, where the fast-paced nature of the Emergency Department meets the in-depth clinical care of inpatient services. In this role, you will be instrumental in monitoring patients, facilitating timely clinical decisions, and guiding them safely through their care journey—whether that involves admission or discharge. Your assessment abilities, critical thinking, and collaborative spirit will create a meaningful impact.

Your Contributions

An effective Observation RN will:

• Implement care plans, including administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments.
• Document all patient care activities.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare providers to ensure patients meet observation criteria, monitoring them for 24-48 hours to evaluate their condition and determine the need for admission or discharge.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families as necessary.
• Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and mobility.
• Work across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual or psychosocial needs.
• Assess the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional health of patients.

Qualifications We Seek

Candidates must hold a current RN license in Michigan and have an associate's degree from an accredited nursing program (a bachelor's degree is preferred).

Additional qualifications include:

• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS-HCP)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
