Job Title Dept Specialist Key Carrier – Lucky (15840 Hesperian Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA 94580) Job Summary The Key Carrier Specialist is an expert in directing front-end staff and operation in the absence of the Assistant Center Store Manager. This role ensures optimal front-end customer service, performance, productivity, compliance, and is responsible for front-end and parking lot conditions. The Department Specialist – Key Carrier directs team members in the Front-End (Checkers and Service Specialists) and Center Store departments, handles cash procedures, and promotes a culture aligned with The Save Mart Companies’ mission and winning behaviors. The position ensures all Front-end and department standards are met during the assigned shift and supports store balancing functions. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by training and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service. Manage front-end performance and productivity (tills, cash handling, WIC/EBT compliance, receipt savings, items processed per minute, front-end efficiency, etc.). Directly lead Clerks and Clerk’s Helpers with a focus on accountability and achieving business performance goals. Ensure front-end and parking lot conditions are met (check stands, floors, cleanliness, carts, bags, etc.). Perform store balancing (bookkeeping) functions to support a remarkable shopping experience. Perform front-end management functions (refunds/returns, loans/pick-ups, check authorizations, etc.). Monitor customer experience on the front-end. Occasionally maintain total store operations in the absence of store management. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Minimum age: 18 years. Good communication and interpersonal abilities. Good training and supervision/coordination skills. Strong counting and math skills. Ability to read/write to accurately complete documentation. Knowledge of front-end operations and check stand procedures. Knowledge of compliance and basic applicable contract/work rules. Education High School Diploma (or GED) or additional job experience. Experience One year of prior work experience, including a minimum of 6 months Grocery/Retail experience. Other Available to work a variety of required retail hours. Physical Store environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, reach, pull and lift objects; ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
