Join Our Team as Division Chief of Cognitive Neurology

The Alzheimer's Center within our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated and innovative physician to take on the role of Division Chief of Cognitive Neurology and Director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer's Disease (CEAD) . This is an exceptional chance to lead one of New York State's ten designated CEADs and influence the future of dementia care in the Capital Region and beyond.

Established with the goal of revolutionizing dementia care throughout upstate New York, our Center enjoys robust support from the institution, community partners, and significant philanthropic contributions. We are in search of a leader who embodies clinical excellence, possesses a deep passion for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, and is committed to advancing research and education in this vital area.

• Serve a diverse and expanding patient base across 23 counties, impacting over 2.5 million individuals.
• Manage approximately 600 new patients and conduct around 2,000 follow-up visits each year.
• Collaborate with a skilled interdisciplinary team, including neurologists, neuropsychologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, social workers, and support personnel.
• Benefit from a well-integrated system with strong infrastructure support from our neurology department, including scheduling, supplies, research staff, and access to essential departments like radiology and infusion services.
• Engage in training and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows, with institutional backing for scholarly activities.
• Lead clinical innovations, including the implementation of advanced treatment options.

Our Center's expertise is in high demand, with approximately 1,000 new patients and 2,400 follow-up visits annually. We generate around 2,300 referrals to community services each year, with nearly 40% focused on caregiver support and education. The Center is proud to offer groundbreaking infusion treatments such as Lecanemab and Donanemab , representing significant advancements in dementia care.

The infusion treatment program is supported by strong partnerships with radiology, apheresis, pharmacy, lab services, and neurology, highlighting our commitment to team-based implementation of innovative therapies.

• Utilize our neurology department for scheduling, facilities, and expert personnel.
• Leverage system-wide partnerships, particularly with radiology and infusion services, to enhance treatment delivery.
• Explore research opportunities, including clinical studies supported by dedicated research staff and grant writing professionals, as well as basic research and lab space through the Department of Neurosciences and Experimental Therapeutics.
• Access research opportunities via our existing Brain Bank, which includes over 100 donated brains from dementia patients.
• Engage in educational and research initiatives with eight residents and more than 140 medical students annually.
• Commit to attracting and retaining top talent.
• Encourage ongoing professional development and clinical innovation focused on emerging therapies.
• Collaborate actively with the NYS Department of Health, the Alzheimer's Association, and local referring physicians to enhance regional care.

We are in search of a clinician-scientist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level who is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of patients and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The ideal candidate will possess:
