Job Description Property Accountant (Oil & Gas)

Compensation: $75,000-$82,500 base salary

Location: Dallas, TX

Work Model: Primarily in office with core hours from 9-3:30PM and remote Fridays

Experience Level: 1+ year of relevant accounting experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a Property Accountant to support a portfolio of oil and gas assets. This role is responsible for full-cycle property accounting, financial analysis, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, attention to detail, and interest in developing technical accounting expertise while supporting high-value assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of accounting for assigned oil and gas properties
  • Prepare, analyze, and review journal entries and supporting financial data
  • Record and reconcile production volumes, revenues, joint interest billings, taxes, and royalties
  • Analyze property-level financial performance and trends
  • Reconcile revenue, tax, and royalty general ledger accounts
  • Prepare reports and filings for governmental and regulatory agencies
  • Communicate with Operations and Field teams to resolve accounting issues
  • Support audit-related projects and special accounting initiatives
  • Assist with accounting efforts related to property acquisitions, including large-scale transactions
  • Manage accounting responsibilities for assets ranging from approximately $100M-$250M
  • Apply technical accounting principles and company policies to develop accurate accounting solutions
  • Participate in ongoing training related to company accounting methods
  • Assume additional accounting-related responsibilities as needed
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience
  • CPA candidate preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, theories, and concepts
  • Experience preparing and analyzing journal entries and financial data
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
Work Schedule
  • Monday-Thursday: In office with flexible arrival and departure times; core hours between 9:00 AM-3:30 PM
  • Friday: Flexible work location; workday ends at 3:00 PM
