The agency also employs experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who provide daily support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Role Description The Direct Support Professional role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Dayton, OH. In this role, team members provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community settings, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping. DSPs help individuals build skills that support independence, participate in community activities, and maintain social connections. Responsibilities include following person‑centered support plans, documenting services, monitoring health and safety, and communicating changes in needs or behaviors to supervisors and healthcare providers. Direct Support Professionals also support individuals in achieving personal goals, advocate for their preferences, and collaborate with families and other team members to ensure consistent, high‑quality care. Qualifications Background in Human Services or a related field, with experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trusting relationships and interact effectively with individuals, families, and team members. Understanding of intellectual disabilities and person‑centered practices to provide respectful, individualized support. Willingness to participate in ongoing training, including first aid/CPR, crisis intervention, and agency‑specific care protocols. High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary coursework in social services, psychology, or healthcare is beneficial. Ability to assist with personal care, lift or support individuals as needed, and maintain a safe environment. Reliable transportation, punctuality, and the ability to work assigned shifts, including evenings or weekends if required.
