About the Position

Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 9 months Shift: Varied Tuesday through Friday 11am - 7pm, Saturday 8am - 4pm Hours per Shift: 7.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in MRI preferred License: Client License (L.R.T.) Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have: Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and M.R. physics. Description: This position operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patients' needs. Performs MRI imaging procedures. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study results. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions the patient may need. Reviews all patient safety questionnaires prior to introducing any patients into the MRI scan room. Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department's standard operating procedures. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to the picture archiving and communication system in a timely fashion. Ensures that all studies performed are completed in the radiology information system promptly. Ensures the radiology room and equipment cleanliness at the start and end of the shift, including the removal of soiled or dirty linen. Scans patient-related documents. Maintains supplies and accessories in the radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties as required. Accurately records all required patient tracking information into the radiology information system. Schedules exams into the radiology information system as required. Informs the supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions. Assists the physician directly as required. Calls for in-patients as necessary. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel. Maintains safety standards via strict adherence to safety guidelines to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required. Maintains in good standing licensure specific to the job, including adherence to public health code requirements. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
