RN Charge Nurse – Cardiac Surgical Step Down | Tulsa, OK
Position Type: Direct Hire Opportunity

Available Schedules:
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Schedule Options (3 Twelve-Hour Shifts Per Week):

• Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  OR
• Saturday, Sunday, Monday

Must-Have Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Oklahoma or valid Multi-State Compact License
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by a State Board of Nursing
• Minimum 1–2 years of nursing experience in acute care, step-down, cardiac care, telemetry, ICU, PCU, or related hospital setting
• Previous experience in leadership, charge nurse, or team coordination responsibilities preferred
• Strong understanding of patient care management, disease processes, clinical pathways, and nursing protocols
• Ability to manage staffing assignments and make real-time clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and team management skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, nursing staff, patients, families, and leadership teams

Position Overview

Trinity Employment Specialists is seeking an experienced RN Charge Nurse for a Direct Hire opportunity within a Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing nursing operations during the shift, coordinating staffing needs, managing patient flow, supporting clinical staff, and ensuring high-quality patient care standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead nursing staff and oversee clinical operations during assigned shift
• Manage staffing levels to ensure safe patient care coverage for current and upcoming shifts
• Evaluate staffing needs and make real-time adjustments based on patient census and acuity
• Provide clinical leadership and serve as a resource for nursing staff during patient care situations
• Support patient placement and coordinate bed management based on patient care needs
• Facilitate patient transfers and ensure continuity of care between departments
• Communicate effectively with physicians, leadership teams, patients, families, and ancillary departments
• Address immediate patient care concerns and resolve unit-related issues during shift operations
• Monitor patient care standards and ensure compliance with established clinical protocols
• Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care when unit support is needed
• Coach, mentor, and support nursing staff while promoting accountability and professional development
• Monitor employee attendance and adherence to scheduling expectations
• Participate in performance management discussions and provide input on employee evaluations
• Assist with implementation of new unit procedures, protocols, and policy updates
• Maintain professional development and ongoing clinical competency
