Position Summary


Buyer II is responsible for managing procurement activities with direct supplier ownership and cost impact. This role ensures material availability, drives cost control, and manages supplier performance to support production and business objectives. The Buyer II operates with a higher level of autonomy and plays a key role in supplier relationships, negotiations, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement Ownership

• Manage procurement for assigned categories, suppliers, or commodities
• Plan and execute purchasing strategies to support production and inventory targets
• Balance cost, service, and inventory levels

Cost Management & Negotiation

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers
• Drive cost savings and track purchase price variance (PPV)
• Identify cost reduction opportunities

Supplier Management

• Own supplier relationships and performance
• Monitor and improve supplier delivery, quality, and responsiveness
• Conduct regular supplier reviews and issue resolutions

Supply Continuity

• Proactively manage supply risks and prevent disruptions
• Reduce expedite frequency through better planning and supplier alignment

Reporting & Analytics

• Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities
• Maintain accurate ERP data (pricing, lead times, MOQ, etc.)
• Support KPI reporting and business reviews

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Production, Inventory, and Supply Chain teams
• Align purchasing decisions with operational priorities

Requirements

Qualifications

• 3-6+ years' experience in procurement or supply chain
• Experience in manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
• Proven experience with supplier management and negotiation
• Strong ERP/MRP experience
