AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Summary This AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER position, is located at an Air National Guard aviation wing and is part of the CA 129 RQW. This position is concurrently announced with AGR A26-220. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER, GS-1601-13, is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Maintenance Squadron, with responsibility for directing and managing the Squadron. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Drug Testing Required. Incumbent is required to maintain qualifications and/or certifications of position assigned. Position does not require the piloting or pilot instructing of military aircraft. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience, education, or training which has provided a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records; Experience using computer and automation systems. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER, GS-1601-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in planning assignments; Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc; Experience in determination of resource needs, allocation of resources, and budgeting/funding needs; Experience in human resources management policy matters affecting the entire organization, with personnel actions affecting key employees to include experience coordinating work forces and resources and negotiating with management or clients concerning problems; Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Individuals who are initially appointed to a permanent or indefinite position in the CMD must complete a one (1) or two (2) year trial period subject to appointment type (DSMT or T5) and veteran's preference.
