Store - Optometric Technician

GENERAL FUNCTION The Optometric Technician at Target Optical creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. Enthusiastically satisfies patients all the time through exceptional service. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Greets guests without delay when they enter the store, showing urgency and enthusiasm for service. Determines the reason for the guest's visit; explains how to shop at Target Optical and the required paperwork, tests, products and services. Reviews patient information carefully and consults with Opticians, Doctors or Retail Management when necessary. Shows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests and patients. Performs work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and guest volume, resolving unsatisfied guests quickly. Demonstrates knowledge of appointment scheduling procedures and computer operation. Handles and files patient records in an organized and efficient manner. Places contact lens orders, processes shipments and submits invoices for payment. Accurately operates the POS system, collecting proper payment as required. Maintains a clean, attractive and organized store display. Reports potential safety opportunities to management. Demonstrates safe work practices and complies with safety/regulatory requirements. Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients. Provides coaching and guidance on contact lens care and handling. Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory and provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of one year of strong guest service skills (internal/external). High School Graduate / GED or equivalent experience. Strong communicator and listener with guests and associates. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Strong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient). Sales skills. Knowledge of store merchandise. Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in guest service, retail or optical. PAY RANGE Pay Range: $—$25.60 (annual, based on geography, experience, qualifications).
