Specialty Technician IIECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician II to join our Mobile team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Specialty Technician II performs destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities on construction materials projects with increasing independence. This role supports projects of moderate complexity and applies specialized testing methods and inspection techniques, including structural steel inspection and non-destructive evaluation (NDE). The Specialty Technician II contributes to project execution, documentation, and mentoring while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesPerforms destructive and non-destructive testing of construction materialsConducts specialty inspections including structural steel, reinforcing steel, welds, and connectionsPerforms advanced testing activities such as ground penetrating radar (GPR), material verification, and corrosion surveysPerforms inspections in fabrication facilities and industrial environments as neededConducts inspections of piping systems, pressure vessels, and specialty components where applicableDocuments field observations, inspections, and testing results in accordance with engineering standardsCommunicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managersReports changes in site conditions and testing requirements to project teamsPrepares and submits field reports and technical documentationPerforms calculations, data reduction, and basic drafting tasksMaintains and organizes specialty testing equipmentNotifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipmentMentors Specialty Technician I and other junior techniciansParticipates in project meetings as requiredPerforms other specialty testing and inspection duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentAs your experience grows, ECS will:Support you in enhancing your professional skills to advance and grow with us.Encourage participation and advancement in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities.QualificationsRequired Qualifications3 years of related experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredMaintain two specialty certifications and obtain one additional specialty certification, such as AWS CWI or Ultrasound Level II, applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification PolicyGeneral industry OSHA 10 may be requiredStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-orientedSound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methodsStrong understanding of construction practices and jobsite operationsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionProficiency with electronic devices and reporting systemsAbility to read and interpret plans, specifications, and codesAbility to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable)Basic math and data reduction skillsMust have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policiesIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredMilitary Qualifications:The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education, certification, and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":E-4/E-5About UsECS Group of Companies (ECS) was founded in 1988 with the goal to raise the standards of professional engineering consulting.
