The requirements of the position are:BS in Mechanical, or similar Engineering technical majorDesired: 3+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment while in a design engineering role. 1+ year MINDesired: 3+ years of experience supporting product manufacturing and assembly processes for both existing and new products. 1+ year MINProven analytical skills in problem solving, analysis and resolution at a functional levelExperience working in an innovative, focused and agile product design teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsHighly detail oriented, focused, results oriented, organized, conscientious, multi-tasked and a team playerHighly motivated and self-driven. Sets and achieves personal goals without supervision. Willingness to set goals and meet deadlines.Experience using Solidworks 3D CAD for part/assembly design and creating engineering drawings.Experience with ERP and PDM systems is a plusExperience with electro-mechanical controls/technology a plusResponsibilities:Generate designs and drawings using 3D CAD (Solidworks) and GD&T to meet specification requirements for function and manufacturability/assembly.Generate test plan, assemble and install prototypes for testing, test and collect data on products for design improvement and design validation.Mechanical dynamic system design requiring working knowledge in spring, bevel gear, rack and pinion, spur gear, planetary gearbox, worm gear, clutch, hydraulic flow control, permanent and non-permanent joints, bearings, and pressure chamber design.Product design using injection molding, die casting, investment casting, forging, metal extrusion, gear hobbing, stamping, broaching, CNC mill and lathe, and heat treatment manufacturing processes.Product design using standard engineering practices (FMEA, DFMA, DFSS)Product design using Lean Innovation Principles and Practices (Set Based Design, Fail Fast, Eliminate Waste, Customer Value Focus, Create Knowledge)Work with cross functional teams from design concept to product launch for dynamic mechanical and electromechanical products.Work with cross functional team to create product specifications and implementation planWork with cross functional design and engineering drawing reviewsProvide design support to manufacturing engineers for part machining fixtures, assembly fixtures, product assembly process, and in line testing requirements.
