Medical Technologist

Position Overview Job Title: Medical Technologist Location: 1 Hamilton Place, Hamilton, NJ 08690 Facility: RWJBarnabas Health Corporate Services Department: Lab RWJHH Status: Hourly Shift: Evening Pay Range: $47.35 per hour Essential Functions Processes, performs, and reports medical diagnostic testing on body fluids by automated and manual methods in a timely manner under the supervision of senior technologists. Produces medical diagnostic test results efficiently and cost‑effectively for stat and routine specimens. Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs instruments and laboratory equipment when possible. Maintains all QC, QA, and repair records required by accreditation agencies. Verifies orders from scripts and orders procedures in HIS and LIS. Assists in clerical duties as needed. Assists in training new employees and students. Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies. Works on special projects as requested by the Director. Applies knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient’s status and provide appropriate action for the age group served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related science (chemical, physical, or biological) from an accredited institution, or military service equivalent. Requirements Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques. Minimum 6 months of clinical laboratory experience or equivalent experience. ASCP Certification for MLS/MT or eligibility within 8 months of employment. Weekend and holiday rotation required.
