BruckEdwards is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer with exceptional initiative to design, integrate, deploy, maintain, and support a Linux-based infrastructure for a mission-critical federal system. This individual will help ensure the availability, security, performance, and reliability of enterprise systems supporting government identity management programs. Experience supporting Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate authorities, and/or certificate lifecycle operations is preferred but not required.

Requirements:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems 
• Maintain the availability, performance, reliability, and security of Linux-based infrastructure 
• Perform system installations, configurations, patching, upgrades, and maintenance 
• Diagnose and resolve operating system, application, network connectivity, storage, and performance issues 
• Support highly available, customer-facing production environments 
• Implement system hardening and applicable cybersecurity controls 
• Support virtualized environments using OpenShift, KVM, VMware, or similar technologies 
• Monitor system health and logs and recommend corrective actions 
• Maintain configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting documentation
• Develop and engineer new solutions to meet best practices, security, and compliance standards
• Support the deployment and configuration of hardware and software
• Maintain documentation of configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
• Support PKI components and certificate lifecycle activities as needed

Required Qualifications: 

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Active Top Secret security clearance
• Monday - Friday, onsite in Manassas, VA
• 10+ years of experience in system administration, engineering, information assurance, or cybersecurity roles (preferably supporting federal IT projects)
• 5+ years of demonstrable experience in administering a highly available customer-serving infrastructure
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Computer Science
• Additional years of professional experience and IT certifications may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
• An Associate’s degree, plus 4 years of experience, can equate to a bachelor’s degree
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher compliant certification, e.g., GSEC, Security+
• Proven experience with Red Hat Linux Administration
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges, communicating recommendations, and supporting evolving project needs.
• Ability to write clear, detailed, and accurate system documentation
• Attention to detail and well-organized

Desired experience in the following areas:

• Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate lifecycles
• Troubleshooting certificate issuance systems
• Experience with issuance, revocation, and renewal of certificates
• Experience implementing certificate policy
• Experience supporting federal identity or credentialing systems
• Experience with Red Hat Certificate Systems, EJBCA, or other Certificate Authority solution(s)
• Familiarity with Hardware Security Modules
• Virtual machine management using KVM, VMware, or other virtualization platform(s)
• Ability to read/write Ansible playbooks for automation
