Responsible for the collection of umbilical cord blood units for the Carolinas Cord Blood Bank Assist with education of the potential mother/donor about the Carolinas Cord Blood Bank Obtain delivery and neonatal information by reviewing medical records Ensure that the collection site phlebotomist collects maternal blood samples Collect the umbilical cord blood from the delivered placenta Maintain confidentiality with regard to identity of the maternal/infant donor pair Participate in the Quality Assurance Program for cord blood banking Requirements Generally requires a bachelor's degree (biology, health science or related field preferred) Phlebotomy certification/experience preferred Bilingual skills, especially Spanish preferred Excellent analytical skills Strong operational focus Good judgement Excellent organizational skills Customer service skills Data management including entering data Ability to focus and manage numerous detailed pieces of information Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in umbilical cord blood collection and management, with a strong focus on quality assurance and operational efficiency.
