Chief Nursing Officer

Salem Transitional Care is looking for a compassionate, experienced, and driven Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead our nursing team and help shape the future of resident care within our facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong clinical leader who is passionate about quality care, team development, and creating a positive culture for both residents and staff. As our CNO, you will serve as a key leader within the facility, partnering closely with the CEO and interdisciplinary teams to support exceptional outcomes, regulatory excellence, and person-centered care. We're looking for someone who leads with integrity, communicates with compassion, and thrives in a collaborative environment where people truly make the difference. What You'll Do As our Chief Nursing Officer, you will oversee the clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department while helping guide the overall success of the facility. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the nursing team to promote high-quality resident care and positive clinical outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations while maintaining ongoing survey readiness
- Partnering with the CEO and leadership team to support facility goals, growth, and operational success
- Overseeing staffing, scheduling strategies, recruitment, retention, and team development within the nursing department
- Supporting quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives through data analysis, action planning, and follow-through
- Collaborating with physicians, ancillary departments, therapy teams, and external partners to ensure coordinated care
- Reviewing clinical referrals and admissions to ensure appropriate resident placement and care capabilities
- Promoting a culture focused on resident rights, dignity, safety, and person-centered care
- Supporting employee growth through education, mentorship, coaching, and clinical competency development
- Maintaining strong communication with residents, families, staff, and providers to help create a positive and supportive environment
- Participating in budget discussions, staffing recommendations, and operational planning
- Assisting with MDS oversight and interdisciplinary care coordination as needed
- Helping lead the facility through challenges while maintaining professionalism, resilience, and strong leadership presence
- A confident and compassionate RN leader with strong clinical judgment
- Experienced in long-term care leadership and skilled at managing clinical operations
- Passionate about quality care, staff development, and resident advocacy
- Organized, proactive, and capable of balancing multiple priorities
- Comfortable leading teams, coaching employees, and promoting accountability
- Knowledgeable in state and federal regulations related to skilled nursing facilities
- A strong communicator who works collaboratively across departments
- Calm under pressure and solution-focused in challenging situations

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Active RN license in the state of Oregon required
- Current CPR certification required
- Valid driver's license required
- DNS-CT or CDONA certification is a plus
- Required 3-5 years of successful leadership experience as a Director of Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, or equivalent clinical leadership role in a Skilled/long-term care setting
- Strong background in skilled nursing, regulatory compliance, staffing management, and quality improvement
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and promoting positive employee relations
