Entry-Level Data Center Cable Technician

Location: Altoona, IA (Relocation Required)

Duration: 4-Month Contract-to-Hire

TEKsystems is seeking motivated, reliable, and hardworking individuals for an entry-level Data Center Technician opportunity in Altoona, Iowa. No extensive experience required. If you have construction, telecom, cabling, or hands-on mechanical experience and are eager to learn, we want to hear from you.

• Install and support low-voltage cabling systems in large-scale data center environments
• Pull, route, and dress copper and fiber optic cable
• Install cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, and other cable support systems
• Assist with rack and stack activities, patch panels, and equipment installation
• Terminate and label cables according to project standards
• Read and follow blueprints, diagrams, and project documentation
• Use hand tools safely and effectively
• Work on active construction sites while maintaining safety and quality standards
• Support data center build-outs and infrastructure expansion projects

Required:

• Willingness to relocate to Altoona, IA for the initial 4-month contract assignment
  • (Travel projects may include paid housing and daily per diem allowances).
• Explore new locations while gaining experience on large-scale technology infrastructure projects.
• Ability to travel for future project opportunities after conversion
• Experience with hand tools and basic construction tasks
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and coachability
• Comfortable working on construction sites, ladders, and at heights

Preferred:

• Telecom, cabling, fiber, or low-voltage experience
• Experience pulling cable, installing cable trays, or terminating cables
• Rack and stack experience
• Construction experience working from blueprints or technical drawings

• Monday-Friday schedule
• Typical work hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM
• Indoor and outdoor construction environments
• Must be comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding conditions

This is a Contract position based out of Altoona, IA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
