Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Plant Operator to support operations at a wastewater treatment facility for the a local government client. This position is responsible for monitoring plant processes, collecting samples, operating equipment, and ensuring the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in water or wastewater treatment operations and hold a valid Virginia Water or Wastewater Operator License.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and system performance throughout the facility.
• Track meter readings, flow levels, pumps, and treatment systems to ensure proper plant operation.
• Collect and analyze samples to verify compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
• Operate plant equipment and control systems to maintain efficient treatment processes.
• Identify and report operational issues and abnormalities.
• Perform routine equipment start-up and shutdown procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and documentation.
• Support plant operations during emergencies, weather events, and other critical situations.
• Coordinate with operators and supervisors to ensure continuous plant coverage and effective operations.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Class I, II, or III Waterworks or Wastewater Operator License.
• Minimum of two years of experience in water treatment or wastewater treatment operations.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Virginia Driver's License.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience operating equipment within a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
• Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes, plant instrumentation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

This position operates on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule:

• 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Rotation:

• 4 days on / 3 days off
• 3 days on / 1 day off
• 3 days on / 3 days off
• 4 days on / 7 days off

Additional overtime is frequently available, with many operators working an additional 10-20 hours per week based on operational needs.

Compensation: $25-$30/ hour.
