Ad Title: FOH Barista at Jug Band Coffee and Tea
Jug Band Coffee and Tea is hiring FOH Baristas for part-time positions!
Jug Band Coffee and Tea is a music inspired all day cafe in the heart of Long
Beach, California. Having just opened in November 2023, we’re still building our
team and growing into the bigger vision of a music forward neighborhood cafe -
one to be known for its remarkable service, excellent coffee tea menu, diverse
breakfast brunch options, evening pizza menu, and regular music sessions.

Our FOH Baristas are entrusted with the responsibility of contributing to the
success of the cafe by consistently providing exceptional hospitality, and barista
quality beverages and products.
Essential Functions
- Prepare espresso and tea beverages for customers, meeting Jug Band’s
quality standards.
- Support the BOH Team by expediting food and communicating incoming
food orders.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience; Proactively engage with
customers to understand and meet their needs – go the extra mile to make
their day with a perfect cup of coffee or tea.
- Develop a thorough understanding of our coffees, teas, foods, and
promotions to drive sales service, as well as have knowledgeable
conversations with customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for customers and coworkers
in all areas of the store, from the coffee bar to the restroom.
- Utilize checklists on a daily basis to ensure every guest touch point is
maintained to a high level of standards, including cleaning, stock levels,
and coffee maintenance.

- Demonstrate willingness and openness to change and share your ideas on
how to make our cafe even better.
- Taste coffee, tea, and specialty beverages regularly to maintain familiarity
with product and quality standards.
- Accurately process transactions in the POS system and reconcile till.
- Practice self-reflection and ask for feedback on performance; know and
hone your personal strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize Homebase to maintain availability, time off requests, and business
communications/updates.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee and tea as well as a
desire to educate others about our coffee and tea.
- Ability to deliver exceptional hospitality in a balanced blend of personal and
professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail and a healthy respect for cleanliness and
sanitation.
- Active Food Handlers certificate and/or willingness to obtain it within 30
days of hire.
- Great communication skills both with employees and customers of all
backgrounds.
- Open to feedback and constantly striving to improve.
- Ability to multi-task with ease.
- Extreme reliability required.
- Available to work at least 1 weekend, 3 weekdays, and 2 evening shifts is
required.

Physical Demands
- Stand and walk: must be able to stand for shifts and move about the café
- Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists, and forearms to operate
espresso machinery
- Taste/Smell: the ability to detect and perceive the smell of coffee
- Talk/hear: frequently communicates with customers and team members

- Carry weight, lift: lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds
occasionally

Rate of Compensation: $16.50 to $18.00 dependent on proven experience, +
tips ranging from $4 to $6 extra per hour
