Our team is built on a foundation of trust, excellence, and a shared commitment to building a more resilient energy future.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Utility Accountant to support project and asset accounting across a dynamic portfolio of transmission projects. This role requires the ability to interpret asset ownership, maintain data integrity across multiple systems, and collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial tracking and compliance. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in utility accounting, experience with SAP and PowerPlan, and a working knowledge of FERC accounting.ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with accounting standards for Transmission cost collectorsDetermine asset ownership and establish correct project accounting frameworksInvestigate and interpret asset ownership using client systems; report discrepancies and align recordsSet up and maintain settlement rules for project accounting (OpCos, voltage, capital/removal/O&M)Support financial forecasting by resolving project accounting issues and entering CIAC accuratelyCreate work orders and project accounting in SAP for newly approved Transmission Portfolio projectsConfirm proper accounting and work order mapping for each projectRun master data queries and ensure SAP and PowerPlan Master Data integrityRequest and maintain new project locations for accurate tracking and unitizationConduct ad hoc accounting and work order researchSupport monthly financial reporting and Transmission Forecast ToolCollaborate with Transmission Business Services, FERC & Wholesale, Asset Management, and DistributionReview project accounting with Project Managers prior to executionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance or related field or 2+ years equivalent work experienceStrong skills in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelUtility accounting experienceFamiliarity with SAP, PowerPlan, and Transmission GISWorking knowledge of FERC accountingExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsWhy CARIAN?Purpose-driven work – Help deliver infrastructure that powers communitiesIndustry reputation – Trusted by leading utilities for our reliability and resultsCareer growth – Opportunities to lead major programs and mentor high-performing teamsCollaborative culture – Join a team that values delivery excellence and long-term relationshipsCompetitive total rewards – Strong compensation, full benefits, 401(k) match, and meaningful workCARIAN takes pride in being an Equal Opportunity Employer.
