Swim Coach

Upper Perkiomen YMCA, 1399 Quakertown Rd, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, United States of America Job Description Under the direction of the Aquatic Director and Head Coach, the Swim Coach is expected to provide support and encouragement to assist swimmers in learning the specific progressive or competitive program. The coach will ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to all YMCA safety standards and rules throughout the program area. Qualifications 18+ years of age High School Degree or equivalent, with at least 2 years of directly related experience in developing and conducting programs Ability to work a non‑traditional schedule, including nights and weekends Proficiency with computer software used for running meets and swimmer line‑ups Current Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer or ARC Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR/AED, or Professional Rescuer instructor certification Maintain current instructor and instructor trainer certifications (YMCA, Red Cross, etc.) Flexibility to travel between multiple YMCA branches Responsibilities Lead swimmers through skill mastery and swim practices Provide a safe environment for YMCA Competitive Swimming and diving Encourage and support swimmers toward an enjoyable YMCA experience Evaluate swimmers’ skills and provide coaching to master strokes Ensure fair practice and swim meet experiences Supervise entire swim meets, including warm‑ups, practice dives, and events, ensuring swimmer safety Conduct practices with energy and enthusiasm Incorporate character development objectives that reinforce YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility Regularly check equipment for necessary repair or replacement Provide excellent service to members and participants Communicate all pool rules and ensure accessibility and identifiability Attend staff meetings and trainings as required Benefits Free YMCA membership – access to all branches Discounts on child care and summer camp programs What You Can Expect Support from an amazing team that includes training on expectations, opportunities to learn and grow at the YMCA, and the chance to be part of a non‑profit organization that makes the community stronger.
