Job Summary:

Lead REV's East power trading function across the PJM footprint, with full commercial responsibility for trading, asset optimization, and portfolio risk management. This role oversees nodal bidding strategies in Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets, capacity and congestion hedging, and structured transactions supporting renewable and energy storage assets. The Director of Trading - East represents the firm in PJM stakeholder processes and works closely with Asset Operations, Risk, Finance, Development, and Technology to maximize portfolio value.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Commercial and P&L responsibility for the PJM trading book, including generation and energy storage assets, congestion hedges, capacity positions, and structured transactions.
  • Develop, evaluate, and execute trading and asset optimization strategies across all PJM revenue streams, including Energy, Capacity, Ancillary Services, and congestion.
  • Oversee nodal bidding strategies in Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets to optimize asset dispatch and portfolio value.
  • Execute bilateral and exchange-cleared trades to hedge commodity, basis, and congestion exposure, from prompt through multi-year forwards.
  • Lead strategy and execution for PJM Capacity Market participation, including RPM auctions and bilateral capacity transactions.
  • Develop and implement proprietary trading and hedging strategies, including use of FTRs, virtuals, and structured products.
  • Manage and develop Power Analysts and Traders responsible for daily market execution, analytics, and asset offers.
  • Represent REV in PJM stakeholder committees, working groups, and industry forums.
  • Ensure full compliance with Risk Policy, PJM Tariff, FERC, and NERC requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Asset Management, Risk, Finance, M&A, Development, and Technology to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain analytical, valuation, fundamental, and statistical models to support trading, hedging, and investment decisions.
Required Education/Skills/Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science).
  • 8-10+ years of hands-on power trading and/or asset optimization experience, with deep PJM market expertise (or other major US ISO experience with demonstrated PJM exposure).
  • Strong understanding of PJM market design, including LMP formation, congestion, FTRs, capacity markets, and ancillary services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading trading teams and coordinating across multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills (e.g. Python, SQL, Excel/VBA); experience writing or modifying code preferred but not required.
  • Experience with energy storage, renewable generation, congestion management, and structured power products strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, market-driven environment, including extended hours during critical market events.
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with excellent communication skills and strong commercial judgment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk, using a computer workstation.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, walk; lift push or pull objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle long periods of screen time and typing.
  • Must be able to have effective time management skills, with the ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
