About the Position

Job Title: Client Fetal Medical Sonographer Profession: Client Fetal Medical Sonographer Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Two years of MFM perinatal scanning experience License: - American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) - Sonography (S) or ARDMS registry is required - AHA BLS Certifications: - Required Certifications: AHA BLS, American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or ARDMS - Preferred Certifications: Fetal ECG, NT certification Must-Have: - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment - Experience in understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite Description: Performs a variety of perinatal ultrasound procedures utilizing high-frequency sound waves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease in utero. Prepares exam room and obtains informed consent while requesting accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam. Reviews patient history and determines proper selection of protocols. Explains method of examination and positions patient. Assesses the patient’s status and needs, completes appropriate diagnostic techniques/tests, and performs necessary interventions. Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered. Ensures quality images are obtained. Coordinates the preparation of images/exams and needed documentation for physician partners. Documents and communicates patient-related information thoroughly and accurately. Informs patient of physician’s instructions or ancillary caregiver’s observations or concerns. Meets the needs of the patient, family, and multi-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination, and documentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy, and efficiency. Ensures safe and effective handoff between shifts by communicating clearly with the oncoming shift. Monitors equipment reliability and safety. Reports issues and/or repairs or service due. Orders and stocks supplies, cleans rooms, and equipment to maintain work environment. Transports patients as needed. Actively participates in quality initiatives, including patient satisfaction, patient care, and workflow. May be required to float to other departments within the scope of competency and qualifications based on business needs. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
