Medical AssistantLocation: Southeastern Integrated Family Medicine ClinicThe Medical Assistant (MA) performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physicians and managers. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. Promotes the Mission and Vision of Southeastern Integrated Care, to include the delivery of chronic care, collaborative care and remote patient monitoring services.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.Room patients and prepare them for provider appointments, including obtaining vital signs, weight, smoking status, medication, and allergy information.Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as ordered by providers.Obtain and process laboratory specimens, including venipuncture, as ordered.Document patient encounters, treatments, medications, immunizations, and other clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).Respond to patient phone calls, lobby visits, faxes, referrals, and specialist appointments in a timely manner.Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and clean/sterilize instruments as required.Follow infection control, PPE, bloodborne pathogen, hazardous materials, and other safety procedures.Ensure compliance with SEIC policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Assist other Medical Assistants with patient flow and coverage as needed.Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, forms, reports, and logs.Review documentation for accuracy and compliance with established procedures.Support and mentor new team members and participate in staff meetings and required training.Maintain effective working relationships with patients, coworkers, providers, and other staff.Demonstrate proficiency with computers, EHR systems, phones, fax machines, and other office equipment.Maintain reliable attendance and work scheduled shifts.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.ExperienceMinimum 2 years in a clerical or administrative role;Knowledge of healthcare and clinical terminology, regulations, and best practices;A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.Required Skills/AbilitiesAbility to problem solve and work both independently and in a team;Excellent communication and organizational skills;Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications;Ability to maintain confidentiality;Sensitivity to the needs of persons with MH/SA/DD concerns;Ability empathetically interact with beneficiaries and their families.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsPreferred national certification for the registered medical assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or for the certified assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis). And "other duties as assigned."
