Schedule & Shift Schedule: PRN Shift: Night (United States of America) Location 2525 S Downing St, Denver, CO 80210 Job Description Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing tasks under the direction of a registered nurse. Documents and reports all procedures accurately according to department policy. Participates in obtaining nursing history and evaluates age‑appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse. Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture, and functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives. Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and assesses the availability of support systems. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must demonstrate ability and understanding of the age‑specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations. Requires close attention and mental effort in executing multiple assigned duties, such as recording blood pressures, input & output (I & O), obtaining and documenting blood glucose results, and distributing and collecting dietary trays. Ability to float between assignments and adapt to varying healthcare settings. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to document information accurately. Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused in stressful or emotionally charged situations. Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail. Customer‑service skills with a patient‑centric approach. Basic computer knowledge and data‑entry proficiency. Ability to move or lift patients and equipment; willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and overtime. Commitment to purposeful hourly rounding and effective interaction with a variety of individuals. Knowledge of and ability to perform accuchecks and hemoccults, obtain vital signs correctly and knowledge of normal parameters for the age‑specific populations. Ability to remove peripheral IV catheters, empty Foley bags, JP’s, and hemovacs. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; articulate complex information clearly to all levels of staff. Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to work in a matrix‑management environment. Judgment to request supervisory input when needed and adherence to efficient time management. Interfaces with fellow employees, physicians, and patients continuously, and establishes good relationships with community agencies. Works in a modern well‑equipped environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens; may encounter aggressive or violent outbursts. May be required to work weekends, irregular hours, and holidays; subject to prolonged standing and occasional lifting of supplies/equipment; personal protective equipment required. Must meet physical requirements and have accurate typing skills. Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Education High School Graduate or equivalent (Required) Field of Study Must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have completed the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals OR have completed an accredited nursing program within one year and not yet obtained registration as a RN or LPN. Work Experience 1+ year experience as a nursing assistant (Preferred) Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support – CPR (Required) Physical Requirements Must meet physical requirements per hospital standard and have accurate typing skills.
