Senior/ Principal Software Architect – Storage & File Systems Denver, CO (Hybrid) | Up to $250,000 base + benefits | Full-time An established leader in enterprise data storage is hiring a Principal Software Architect to set the technical direction for its distributed storage and file-system software. This is a senior individual‑contributor architecture role for someone who has designed large-scale storage systems and can be the technical authority across teams - shaping architecture, raising the engineering bar, and staying hands‑on where it matters. What you'll do Own the architecture of distributed, scale‑out storage and file‑system software - data path, object and file layers, metadata, and data protection. Set technical direction across multiple engineering teams and drive the hardest cross‑cutting design decisions. Define the approach to performance, scalability, durability and reliability, and hold the system to it. Prototype, review and guide implementation; mentor senior and staff engineers and lift the overall standard of the codebase. What we're looking for 15+ years of systems software engineering, with a track record of architecting storage or distributed systems at scale. Deep expertise in C/C++ and in file systems, object/block storage, or high‑performance data paths. Mastery of distributed‑systems design: consistency, replication, erasure coding, fault tolerance and scale‑out. Strong Linux systems and performance‑engineering background. The judgement and communication to be the technical authority across teams while remaining hands‑on. Nice to have Experience taking a storage product from architecture through to production at petabyte scale. Familiarity with modern interconnects (NVMe-oF, RDMA) and cloud/hybrid storage models.
