Position Information Seasonal Forest and Park Supervisor I (Nahant Beach) Job ID: 260002YT Start Date: 5/17/26 End Date: 9/14/26 (17 weeks) Work Hours: 40 hours per week, schedule and days off at the discretion of the Supervisor. May require weekends and/or holidays. Statement of Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and perform work related to the seasonal operation, administration, and maintenance of the assigned facility including grounds maintenance, building and equipment maintenance and repair, and recreational programming. Supervise assigned staff performing visitor recreation and/or education services, facility maintenance, and resource protection programs. Responsibilities include work assignment and scheduling; performance review and evaluation; and staff development and training. Maintain, communicate, and enforce professional standards for visitor services quality, staff appearance, facility maintenance, public safety, and resource protection. Develop and maintain professional and/or service relationships with Friends Group, users, and other organizations with particular interest in the assigned area. Communicate park activities, incidents, and programs to other Departmental staff. Includes preparation of written reports, electronic communication via computer, telephone, and radio transmission. Prepare reports and maintain records regarding the daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal operation of the assigned area to provide information and make appropriate recommendations. Coordinate the activities and work of volunteers, court‑referred individuals, etc. Perform related duties such as determining supply needs; operating and performing routine maintenance on various types of equipment and vehicles; providing information to the general public; interviewing candidates for employment; providing on‑the‑job training; using small hand tools; and other duties as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Knowledge of the geographic composition of the assigned work area. Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of supervision. Qualifications At least two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time technical or professional experience in forestry, parks, or recreational management; or any equivalent combination of experience and education as described below. Substitutions: An associate’s degree or higher with a major in forestry, natural resources management, or parks and recreation management may be substituted for the required experience. Education toward such a degree will be prorated. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
