Lead Java Developer

Java Lead Location – Hybrid in Bentonville, AR – Need to relocate upon offer Main Tech: Java, Microservices, Springboot, NoSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes Screening – live technical screening with Apex Architect (1 hour) Project Overview: Lead role, it’s a backfill for him when he became a manager. He couldn’t find any candidates. Architect solutions, help with product and business wherever needed, keep things going, monitor people’s work and make sure they have enough work and also plan for future sprints. Health and wellness – he’s from vision center’s headquarters. Takes orders from Sam’s and Walmart, system saves patient information and insurance related information, also doctors information in the system. This position is more functional. However, when he led the team, he was hands on because he was curious. Reviewed code to figure out where things are going wrong. Needs to be able to do code reviews. If needed, write code and find optimizations in code that was written by peers. They’re an Azure shop but they don’t work on it. Everything they deploy goes in to it. Daily work: Spring boot, spring batch, java development. JDK 8 and 11. Team Size & Breakdown: 8 engineers/devs 3 QE supporting the patient services team. Blend of full time and contractor. QE 2 contractors Dev 4 full time 4 contractors. Development Methodology: agile – plan for the quarter and have a long road map but when nitty gritty happens things change a lot. 2 week scrums Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools): Java – JDK 8 and 11 Spring Boot Designing of microservices Spring Batch Kafka - needs to have good understanding of how it works. Hands on experience with Kafka needed prior to moving in to this role. Kubernetes Docker – they don’t do custom so needs basic knowledge of how it works. Jenkins CI/CD – kicks off and deploys to Kubernetes. Need to be aware of the ecosystem. Restful APIs NoSQL experience – CosmosDB is what they use – preferable but any NoSQL database is okay.
