About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a blended Stepdown/Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit (19 beds) serving post-procedure cardiac and neurological patient populations
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency testing
• Initiate and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, and Heparin
• Perform NIHSS and comprehensive neurological assessments; provide care for CVA, seizure, and TBI patients
• Manage post-heart cath care (femoral and TR bands), chest tubes, PIV insertion, and sepsis protocols
• Float within skillset to sister campuses with a minimum of 2 hours notice for cross-campus float; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching environment

• Current active multistate (compact) RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of solid Stepdown experience plus at least 1 travel contract, OR 5 years of solid Stepdown experience with no travel experience
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Recent hands-on experience with Epic EMR (a checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Experience caring for post-procedure cardiac patients including cath/stents, pacers, ICD, and ablation procedures
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills with experience managing STEMI/NSTEMI, DKA, carotid endarterectomy, and sepsis patients
• Prior travel nursing experience in a Stepdown or PCU setting
