High School Substitute Teacher

High School Substitute Teacher High School Substitute Teachers are needed to join the on‑call substitute pool for the 2026–2027 school year at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus. This position is temporary and on‑call (fixed term), available on an as‑needed basis across elementary, middle and high school levels. Job Summary Serve as a substitute teacher at elementary, middle and/or high school levels on an as‑needed basis. Essential Responsibilities Serve as a substitute teacher at elementary, middle and/or high school levels on an as‑needed basis. May also be required to provide academic support for students enrolled in online courses. Provide academic support for students working independently on assignments, projects, or independent study. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade level. Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals. Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines; manage small and large groups of students in a classroom environment; communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including ability to discuss sensitive topics. Preferred Qualifications Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in area of primary instruction. Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level. Previous experience teaching the age levels and subject areas of the specific teaching position. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture. Physical Requirements Frequently sits, performs desk‑based computer tasks and grasps light or fine manipulation, talks or hears. Occasionally stands and/or walks, writes by hand, and lifts and/or carries, pushes and/or pulls objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Rarely twists, bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crawls, climbs, reaches or works above shoulder, or grasps forcefully. Working Conditions May involve traveling to various locations, including neighboring islands to conduct business. Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work in non‑standard workplaces. Work is typically Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives. Compensation and Benefits Daily pay: $215.00.
