2026-27 Industrial Technology, Automation & Robotics Instructor Location: Midwest City, Oklahoma Starting Date: Immediately Salary: $58,900 per year (Base; 191 contract days) Schedule: 7:30–3:00 PM Department: Mid-Del Technology Center FLSA Status: Exempt Safety‑Sensitive: Yes Position Summary This instructor will provide instruction in Industrial Technology, developing and maintaining a current curriculum and delivering instruction through engaging, real‑world strategies. The instructor will prepare students to take and pass industry certifications required for successful employment. Qualifications Meet CareerTech requirements to hold or qualify for a Standard or Provisional Career Technology Teaching Certificate in the appropriate area. Two years of experience in Industrial Electrical Systems, Mechanical Drive Systems, Mechatronics, and/or Avionics related areas. Teaching experience preferred. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of Career Technical Education preferred. Proficient computer skills required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruct students through modeling, visuals, hands‑on activities, work‑based learning, demonstrations, and thematic instruction using audio/visual aids and technology. Develop and prepare program curriculum, objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, projects, and evaluation instruments aligned with state, industry, and district guidelines. Stay current with industry training in specialty areas and incorporate relevant skills; establish and maintain an advisory committee of industry professionals and stakeholders. Administer and evaluate assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests, provide timely feedback, keep student grades in a student information management system, and communicate progress to parents. Communicate curriculum and information to stakeholders via email, learning management systems, student information systems, and video conferencing. Manage the classroom effectively, set high expectations, monitor students, and aid them in developing employability skills for post‑program employment. Prepare program completers for industry certifications and state competency tests; identify students not meeting competencies and initiate improvement plans. Participate in faculty, professional, and advisory meetings; engage in school events, parent/teacher conferences, and IEP/504 meetings as appropriate, adapting lessons for students with special needs. Participate in and sponsor CareerTech student organization events, competitions, assist students in job placement, and provide work‑based learning opportunities and supervision. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or above. Language and Grammar Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, schedule, or blueprint form. Physical Demands The employee is required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally sit. Requires frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, high or precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, electrical shock risk, and vibration. Noise levels vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud. Work location may change due to health crises or disruptive situations. Supervisory Responsibilities Potential to supervise a varying number of employees in overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
