Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a primarily medical-surgical patient population with oncology history, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and management of diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
• Perform and manage specialized clinical skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care/wound vac, and surgical drain management
• Administer and monitor high-risk medications including heparin drips and insulin; maintain non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions
• Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED or other medical patient care areas, as needed
• Participate in every-other-weekend rotation and fulfill call requirements for pre-scheduled shifts that are called off
• Serve on assigned Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient medical-surgical setting
• Proficiency in med/surg clinical skills: colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Ability to administer chemotherapy if required
• Current BLS certification
• Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication framework

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
• Charge nurse experience
