Department Bio The Institute for International Economic Policy serves as a catalyst for high-quality, nonpartisan, multidisciplinary research on policy issues surrounding the global economy. IIEP connects a network of 60+ interdisciplinary faculty and visiting scholars with students, policymakers, private-sector leaders, and 30+ Executive Circle ESIA Alumni. The Institute advances GW's engagement in the global economic arena through research, events, conferences, and external partnerships, including deep ties with the World Bank. IIEP also supports student professional development through paid research assistantships, staff positions, fellowships, and networking opportunities. Position Specific Summary The Communications Assistant III will support IIEP's digital communications, marketing, and public engagement efforts while serving as a student team lead for Communications Assistants I and II. This advanced role is intended for students with strong prior communications, social media, marketing, or related experience who are comfortable guiding the work of other student assistants. The Assistant III will help coordinate the Institute communications team alongside the Program Manager. Responsibilities include leading weekly team meetings, relaying priorities and feedback, assigning or clarifying tasks, reviewing student content, providing guidance to other assistants, and helping ensure that communications projects move forward in a timely, accurate, and organized way. Successful candidates will be highly detail-oriented, strong writers, organized, dependable, comfortable giving constructive feedback, and interested in taking a leadership role among peers. Standard Position Description The student will manage and/or design marketing and communication strategies and content for departments and/or special events. Tasks may include: Planning, creating, managing and executing marketing plans and campaigns, website resources, digital content and design, and/or managing of social media accounts. While completing work with a high degree of discretion, the student will work within organization marketing standards and guidelines.
