We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Compensation and Benefits Specialist within the DuPage County Department of Human Resources.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and completing the bi-weekly payroll process for the County
• Maintaining recordkeeping and payroll policies
• Preparing and executing system required reports
• Creating personnel/payroll data and tax records within the Dayforce system
• Recording and balancing payroll withholding taxes
• Verifying and maintaining information concerning accruals
• Ensuring and maintaining employee and elected official compensation from appropriate documentation
• Training and instructing employees in proper payroll procedures
• Maintaining and updating annual tax forms related to payroll
• Administering employee benefit plans and programs
• Acting as a liaison with benefit providers and employees
• Coordinating the annual open enrollment process
• Maintaining up to date records of employee benefit information
• Participating in benefit orientation for new employees
• Implementing union contract provisions to ensure pay and benefits into the Dayforce system
• Reviewing and verifying output of work
• Updating or drafting County payroll and benefit policies for compliance with federal/state regulations, and reporting requirements
• Resolving payroll and benefit discrepancies
• Resolving benefit issues with billing and eligibility
• Responding to inquiries and requests from County employee's regarding payroll and benefit information and processes
• Compiling, analyzing, and reconciling (e.g. financial and statistical data) and generating reports
• Preparing verbal and written communications for a variety of benefit and payroll programs
• Updating management staff on payroll and benefit related personnel and operational issues
• Providing back up for all other payroll & benefit staff members

Requirements include:

• Completion of an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in administering compensation/payroll or benefits programs; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• A passing score on skills tests in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Payroll required.
• A pre-employment background check is required.
