Eligibility Referral Specialist I

CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

The purpose of the Eligibility Referral Specialist is to interview and maintain communication with public assistance clients who have previously been determined to be eligible for public assistance for the following programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Ohio Works First (OWF), Medicaid, Prevention, Retention Contingency Program (PRC), Publicly Funded Childcare, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Learning Earning and Parenting (LEAP), Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), and other programs.

JOB DUTIES

Interviews and maintains communication with public assistance clients who have previously been determined to be eligible for public assistance and/or assesses ongoing clients’ employment situation and seeks to resolve any barriers to employment these clients may be experiencing. Tracks ongoing clients already enrolled in education and/or training programs and assists ongoing clients in job search/retention activities. Processes public assistance overpayments and under-issuances. Attends hearings, training, and meetings regarding public assistance issues/cases and/or employment issues. Contacts other public and private sector agencies to establish potential work experience sites for education and/or training program participants. Performs miscellaneous tasks associated with the duties of the Eligibility/Referral unit. These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
