Human Resources Manager

We’re excited to partner with PGAV on the search for a Human Resources Manager to join their growing St. Louis headquarters. Conducted exclusively by Benskin & Hott Talent Partners , this search represents a unique opportunity for an experienced HR professional to step into a highly visible leadership role within one of the country’s most respected design and planning firms.

The firm is seeking a strategic, hands-on HR leader who is energized by building processes, strengthening culture, and serving as a trusted partner to leadership.

The Opportunity

This is not simply a maintenance HR role — it is an opportunity to help shape and modernize the HR function for a growing organization. PGAV recently completed a comprehensive HR audit that identified several key opportunities related to compliance, compensation structure, onboarding, employee development, systems optimization, and organizational planning.

The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with executive leadership to build scalable HR strategies and processes that support the firm’s long-term growth while preserving the culture that makes PGAV special.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable operating strategically and rolling up their sleeves to execute. This person will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership while also driving day-to-day HR operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to principals and senior leadership
  • Help develop and implement long-term HR strategies aligned with company growth goals
  • Lead compensation initiatives, including job evaluations, wage structures, and incentive programs
  • Create and maintain job descriptions and ensure proper FLSA classifications
  • Support succession planning and organizational development efforts
  • Develop HR metrics and reporting to support business decisions

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Manage and optimize HRIS systems and related HR processes
  • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle programs
  • Review and update employee handbook, policies, and compliance procedures
  • Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws
  • Administer performance management and review processes
  • Improve hiring workflows, documentation, and HR operational consistency
  • Support training initiatives, employee engagement programs, and process improvements

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Foster a positive, approachable, and solutions-oriented HR presence
  • Support leaders with employee communication and change management initiatives
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen employee engagement and retention
  • Conduct exit interviews and support continuous culture improvement
  • Oversee benefits administration through internal support staff

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of progressive HR leadership or HR generalist experience
  • Strong expertise across employee relations, compliance, compensation, talent management, and HR operations
  • Experience managing and optimizing HRIS platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills
  • Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

Preferred

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification
  • Experience within architecture, engineering, construction, design, or professional services environments
  • Experience building HR infrastructure within a growing organization
  • Multi-location HR experience
  • Paylocity experience preferred
