Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and NC or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Neuro Unit within a Medical Surgical department
• Patient population focused on general medicine with a neuro specialty, including CVA cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• Night shift (4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly schedules accepted
• Every other weekend requirement (5-6 weekend shifts per schedule)
• Floating required, with travelers floating first
• Manager-based scheduling
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Neuro/CVA and cardiac monitoring experience preferred
• Charge RN experience or willingness to learn preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care with a focus on neurological and CVA patients using a teamwork approach and strong patient safety focus
• 24-hour unit orientation provided, with weekly orientation scheduling
• Navy blue scrubs required (not provided)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health/New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure and facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units, disclosed, and with independent transportation
• Pre-start compliance modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online prior to start and annually
