Youth Counselor - Crisis Program - Richfield/Bloomington Job Summary: The youth counselor supports youth experiencing a mental health crisis in our children’s crisis settings. This service is designed to support youth in the community instead of them living in a hospital, hotel or detention center. In this role, you will provide support to youth by implementing interventions identified in their therapeutic support plan and engaging in all daily activities with clients. This includes supporting them with hygiene and daily tasks, cooking, maintaining their schedule, taking them into the community and managing behaviors when necessary. Mount Olivet Rolling Acres (MORA) is a diverse and inclusive nonprofit that has supported adults, seniors and children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs and age‑related and chronic medical conditions for over 50 years in the Twin Cities metro. MORA offers a range of services including Adult Day Services, Contracted Case Management, Community Supports, Residential Homes, Respite, Therapeutic Recreation, Training for Guardians & Families, and Discover Summer Daytime Programming for Youth with Disabilities. Our Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) offers crucial cost‑effective services for adults and children. Schedules: 40 hours per pay period – anticipated schedule includes a combination of day hours 7 AM–3 PM and evening hours 2 PM–10 PM with every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday. Compensation: Hourly Base Rate: $25.00 per hour. Weekend differential +$2.00 per hour for hours between Fri 10 PM and Sun 10 PM. Overnight differential +$1.00 per hour for hours between 10 PM and 6 AM (sleep hours only when assigned) ($12.41 per hour). $1,500 retention bonus for full‑time paid out over 1 year. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Engage with client daily activities and manage behavior according to client’s individual plan and needs. Approach all client and coworker interactions from a trauma‑informed care perspective. Maintain open communication with coworkers and contribute to a healthy work environment by supporting each other in meeting the needs of the clients served. Attend team and client meetings. Demonstrate acceptance and respect toward all people of any gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, disability and gender identity. Ensure client safety by implementing necessary behavior interventions as described in their therapeutic support plan. Actively take clients into the community, including driving them at day and night, and demonstrating safe and appropriate social skills. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients at all times. Ensure a clean, safe home by following all policies and procedures on shift. Work effectively with the clients’ identified supports (family, guardians, workers) to encourage communication and healthy relationships. Support the client in identifying their triggers and implementing coping strategies that allow them to stabilize and transition to a long‑term living option. Lead and teach DBT groups on shift to youth. Participate in recreation activities, games and all events at the home. Document as required on shift. Work harmoniously with and show respect to all internal and external individuals. Assist with daily housekeeping and household maintenance. Demonstrate an understanding of the person as a unique individual and how to implement programs in accordance with the Coordinated Service and Support Plan (CSSP), CSSP‑A, and Individual Abuse Prevention Plan. Provide person‑centered services demonstrated through practice, action, and language. Maintain and perform proper administration and documentation of all prescribed medication, treatments, diets, and/or exams, or as otherwise directed by the CSSP and CSSP‑A. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and MORA policies and procedures. Prepare meals following the planned menu for clients in the home and complete weekly food ordering as needed or scheduled. Read and follow company policies and procedures. Check MORA email each shift, utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams as necessary to complete documentation and remain current on MORA and client information. Administer medications following medication administration guidelines. Complete all mandatory training either determined by MORA or 245D regulations. Attend Medical Coordinator trainings and drop‑ins as needed. Responsible for the overall healthcare management for the clients in conjunction with the Lead Youth Counselor. Oversee the house and client documentation and work closely with the Program Supervisor to ensure they are maintained according to MORA expectations and licensing standards. Ensure fire and weather drills are completed according to licensing‑determined frequency unless delegated where appropriate. Cross‑train at multiple Crisis programs to support the needs of the youth and staff ratio. Collaborate with the team to complete other duties as assigned or as needed. Required Qualifications: 21 years or older. High School Diploma or GED. Experience with youth in a residential, shelter or crisis program. Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain “qualified” status. Must be able to successfully meet company’s physical job demands. If using your own vehicle for company business, you must have a current valid driver’s license and insurance as required by state law. Successful completion of the provided Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training with a score of 70% or greater, within the first two months of employment. Successful completion of Medication Administration class with a score of 80% or greater, regularly pass medications using correct procedure without error.
