Minimum qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in product design or UX. Experience with interactive and visual design. Experience in layout and composition. Experience with brand expression and style. Preferred qualifications Experience with design systems, including abstract thinking about second order effects of choices at the system level. Experience with visual design for software products. Experience leading large-scale creative collaboration sprints and workshops. Excellent creative coding, interaction design, illustration, motion design, and iconography skills. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $178,000-$265,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Explore new visual language and overarching story for the material design system and design specific components and subsystems. Define systems for brand expression in product, and establish and document visual systems for color, typography, shape, layout, etc. Draw example screens showing elements of the design system in action. Collaborate with design teams across Google to help them implement material design in their products. Collaborate effectively with interaction and motion designers, engineering, research, product, and writing within Google Design Platform to ship a functioning system.
