Industrial Controls Electrician

Location: Muskegon County, MI | Schedule: Off-shift

You arrive before production ramps up. Overnight, a drive faulted on a key line. You scan the HMI, interpret the electrical schematic, trace a sensor signal with your meter, and isolate the issue. A quick repair and calibration later, uptime is restored. You document the work, lock out and tag out the circuit you serviced, then move to a preventive maintenance route—checking VFDs, cleaning panels, and verifying instrumentation accuracy. Before the shift ends, you partner with engineering to review a planned controls upgrade that will improve reliability.

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair plant electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation across production and facility assets.
• Install, inspect, and test electrical and electronic components to meet operational and regulatory standards.
• Diagnose complex controls and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime and sustain throughput.
• Read and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation during repairs and projects.
• Execute preventive maintenance; calibrate sensors, drives, and control loops for consistent performance.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production to implement upgrades and process improvements.
• Follow electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout, and maintain compliance with all standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records per company and regulatory requirements.
• Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to peers and operators.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for safety, reliability, and equipment effectiveness.

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Possess a minimum of one of the following:

• Master Electrician License
• Deep experience in electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and controls
• Hands-on background with PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial automation
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; effective independently and on cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement

• Base pay: up to $41.50 per hour
