Assistant Manager –Dee BrownLibrary Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) Location:6325 Baseline Rd, Little Rock, AR 72209 The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a reliable, team-oriented and service-minded Assistant Manager for the Dee Brown Library. About the Role The Dee Brown Library is a heavily utilized, service-intensive public library serving a diverse and vibrant community. The library functions as a critical resource for individuals facing economic, educational, technological, and social barriers and is committed to providing welcoming, equitable service to all. The Assistant Manager will work under the direction of the Branch Manager to ensure smooth daily functioning of the library for staff and the public. This position requires the ability to balance a wide array of tasks that range from management and scheduling to patron and staff support, as well as day-to-day library operations. Must be able to respond and adapt based on daily fluctuations in staffing, library events, and patron activity. Responsibilities Assisting with daily operational tasks Providing excellent customer service at the public service desk, including basic instruction on printing from personal devices and using library computers and software Handling complex public service situations with compassion and appropriate boundaries, consistent with library policies Setting a positive tone with the library and with the staff Coordinating volunteers Reserving meeting rooms Helping to maintain and update branch social media posts Qualifications Supervisory experience preferred Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Notary Public commission in the State of Arkansas Spanish language skills are highly desirable. Employees who meet CALS qualifications for bilingual proficiencyareeligible for language differential pay. Schedule This full-time position includes some nights and weekends.
