Occupational Therapists are more than just providers of care – they make a difference by helping patients regain independence and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess the functional status, strengths, and limitations of patients across physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional aspects, and establish personalized treatment goals. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient preferences, guiding patients through activities that enhance independence and overall quality of life. Patient Education and Training: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about therapeutic processes, adaptive strategies, and techniques, providing hands‑on training in daily living activities, mobility, and the use of assistive devices. Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Work closely with other healthcare professionals—including COTAs, physical therapists, speech‑language pathologists, nurses, and physicians—to coordinate holistic care plans. Progress Monitoring and Outcome Measurement: Continuously monitor patient progress, reassess goals, and modify treatment plans as needed using standardized assessment tools and patient feedback.
