About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU/PCU Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Critical Care experience Description: Will be floated between two critical care and step-down units. The unit consists of 24 beds in ICU and 26 in PCU. Ratios are typically 2:1 in ICU and 4:1 in PCU, depending on acuity. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include Levophed, amiodarone, heparin, precedex, propofol, cardene, nitro, and neosynephrine. Charge Nurse is assigned on the floor. A House Supervisor is present on each shift. There are no nurse aids in ICU, and 1-2 aids in PCU per shift. An Intensivist is available during the day, while hospitalists cover all hours. Respiratory Therapy staff is present in ICU 24/7. Equipment available includes vents, BiPap, and Airvo. Bedside monitors are utilized along with a monitor bank at the charge desk. A Monitor Tech is on site. Shifts required are nights from 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend requirements depend on coverage, usually requiring every other weekend. Holiday requirements also depend on coverage. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs should expect to work in either ICU or PCU and may occasionally float to other departments if necessary. Scrub color is navy blue.
